Most organizations don’t have a content problem. They have an alignment problem.

Marketing says one thing. Product says another. UX introduces different language. AI systems generate yet another version. Over time, the meaning of what an organization is trying to communicate begins to drift, creating confusion for teams and friction for customers.

In this talk, Sarah Johnson will focus on how putting content at the beginning of the design process can create a shared foundation for better decisions across an organization.

You'll learn how Content-First Design helps teams establish meaning before screens and interfaces are built, align stakeholders around customer needs and business goals, and create more consistent experiences across channels. Sarah will also examine the relationship between consistency and trust and why clear, intentional content is becoming even more important as organizations introduce AI into the customer experience.

Through practical examples and a content-first framework, attendees will see how content can move beyond its traditional role as the final layer of a design and become a tool for alignment, decision-making, and customer experience strategy.

Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to:

  • Identify where meaning and messaging begin to drift across teams and channels
  • Use content to align product, UX, marketing, and business teams earlier in the process
  • Build greater customer trust through clarity and consistency
  • Reduce rework and conflicting decisions during design and development
  • Create a stronger foundation for AI-powered customer experiences

Content isn't simply what fills the interface. It is often the thing that tells everyone what the experience is supposed to mean.
